Capital Audiofest 2025: Another North American High-End Audio Show Turns 15

12-18-2025 | By Myles B. Astor | Issue 142

Command Performance AV (Room 305)

Joseph Audio Pulsar2 Graphene speakers, $10k, Doshi Audio EVO stereo amplifier, $26K, Doshi Audio EVO preamplifier, $24K, Doshi Audio EVO phonostage, $24K, J. Sikora ASPIRE turntable with CV 9 tonearm, $11K, Aidas Malachite Silver cartridge, $7300, Innuous Stream 3 Music server with Phoenix DAC board, $13K, Cardas Audio Clear cables

Command Performance's other main floor demo room featured premieres of J. Sikora's new entry level ASPIRE turntable (on display at AXPONA 2025) and the latest iteration of Jeff Joseph's Pulsar speakers replete with Graphene drivers. For the record, this is same speaker model that Jeff demoed at the inaugural, kickoff Capital Audiofest in 2010! How long does a speaker line last? The sound was a little congested and edgy on day one; but as typical for audio shows, the system had mellowed out and the small stand mounted Pulsars produced a sound that belied their size by Sunday of the show.

Convergent Audio Technology

Acora VRC speakers, $218K, CAT SL1 Legend Extreme aSC preamplifier, $100K, CAT JL-5HPA amplifier, $35k, VPI HW40 turntable, Essential Sound Products cables

It's interesting that the Acora speakers at this year's show were driven mainly with tubes (and curiously not Audio Research) and this room was no exception using the CAT JL-5HPA amplifiers.
