The Gold Note DS-10 EVO DAC with PSU-10 EVO power supply is its own unique audio source adventure that complements my other sources, but doesn't replace them. I like it.
The Gold Note DS-10 EVO DAC with its PSU-10 EVO high-performance power supply is capable of sound quality comparable to my vinyl source that's in the $25,000 to $30,000 USD "performance level three" range, when playing well-mastered high-resolution PCM and DSD files, which is pretty darn impressive considering its modest $4890 USD price.
The Gold Note DS-10 EVO DAC with its optional PSU-10 EVO power supply is a bargain for its excellent sound quality, and at $3495 USD for the DS-10 EVO DAC and $1395 USD for the hot-rodded PSU-10 EVO power supply I predict you'll be impressed just as I was.
The Gold Note DS-10 EVO streaming DAC can be used as a standalone component, but if you really want to hear what it can do, you should consider the optional hot-rodded Gold Note PSU-10 EVO power supply as mandatory.
What the Gold Note DS-10 EVO DAC with PSU-10 EVO power supply does do is broaden my musical horizons by letting me explore and listen to an almost unlimited amount of albums with a Qobuz subscription, way more so than I can with CDs or LPs.
That is the Gold Note's superpower: it can stream well-mastered high-resolution files in excellent sound quality, and it opens up a new world of listening to Planet Earth's vast recorded music canon, and that is impressive.
I've come to the conclusion that this listener needs sources that can play CDs well, stream music well, and plays LPs well, to give the widest possible listening choices from our recorded music canon. I wouldn't want to be without any of them!
The Gold Note DS-10 EVO DAC with PSU-10 EVO power supply is highly recommended by yours truly!
Postscript: In spite of this being a very long article, I just covered the basics of what the Gold Note DS-10 EVO streaming DAC with its PSU-10 EVO high-performance power supply can do at an overview level. There's a lot of technology here that deserves an even deeper dive to investigate everything the Gold Note is capable of.
