Next we checked the tracking force with VPI gauge they supplied.
We discovered it was pre-calibrated at their shop and was set at 1.77 grams of tracking force. The average range is anywhere between 1.7-2.0, but the Ortofon 2M Black cartridge is recommended in the instructions at a tracking force of 1.5 grams, so we had to back off a bit. Once the tone arm assembly was completed…
…it looked fabulous!
