Audiophiles Larry and Carol Dupon's thoughtfully amassed this incredible selection of vintage and highly desirable audio components over decades, and a collection of this caliber and breadth has never before come to market. Rare McIntosh tube amplifiers, sculptural speakers, and stereo components from the heyday of rock-and-roll create sublime audio experiences with visual appeal to boot.
Before the advent of eBay, Larry Dupon dedicated himself to the search for rare audio equipment, scouring shops, posting print ads, and even organizing Chicago’s Vintage Audio Fair. Through his passionate pursuit, Dupon became a major dealer and top expert in the field – not as a careerist, but as a true aficionado. Sublime Sound brings to market the Dupons' coveted personal collection, including the Arnold Wolf-designed Paragon speaker and C45 Metregon Ranger stereo speakers (with Richard Ranger), gold standard McIntosh MC275 tube amplifiers (serial nos. 26E2 and 533E5), and components from industry leaders including Marantz, Goldmund, and Quad.
The full collection of 44 vintage audio components will be exhibited February 17th – 25th at Wright in Chicago, by appointment. The auction will take place on February 25th online at wright20.com, beginning at 11 am Central. Full listings will be published online 2-3 weeks in advance of the auction.
