St. Etienne, France. – October 30, 2018 – Focal, a recognized leader on the global stage for high fidelity products, today unveils Utopia M, the latest in high-end reference car audio from Focal. In 2005, the Utopia Be line was developed using Focal’s best high-fidelity loudspeakers, revolutionizing the brand’s Car Audio line. Today, Focal introduces the evolution of that legacy, a new iconic and high-end reference: The Utopia M line.
LEGENDARY SPEAKER DRIVERS
True high-end icons, the Utopia speaker drivers use the very best of Focal’s innovative technology, including the M-profile cone. For Utopia M, Focal went to the extreme with laser measuring and the most advanced simulation tools to develop an ‘M’-profile ‘W’ sandwich cone. This unique, one-piece cone with no central dome enables better frequency response and better sound dispersion. The profile also reduces the depth and allows for a larger voice coil to bring together power and a flawless musical sound.
A UNIQUE DESIGN
Handmade in France, the Utopia M speaker drivers use high-end codes across the portfolio: a unique cone and a unique chassis. The design of the Utopia M chassis is a subtle, elegant mix of tradition, performance and elegance. All the components of the Utopia speaker drivers have been reworked for optimal sound and performance: TMD® suspension, progressive spider, large voice coil, and the red neodymium motor, Focal’s epic signature.
THE ONLY LIMIT: THE INSTALLERS’ CREATIVITY
In addition to the 6.5" woofer and the tweeter, the line includes a 3.5" medium, an 8" slim woofer and a 10" subwoofer to create a more dynamic system. With Utopia M, installers can build 'à la carte' audio system with only one limit to the installation: their own creativity. The range also comes complete with a new 2-way passive kit.
THE UTOPIA 2-WAY PASSIVE KIT: A CLASSIC REVISITED
Focal kept the essence of the 165W-RC kit which boasted easy installation and Utopia’s signature sound and performance features, while also adopting new technologies. The woofer keeps its 'W' sandwich cone and also benefits from the TMD® suspension, a progressive spider and a new ventilated motor. Named 165W-XP, this 2-way kit uses a new Beryllium inverted dome tweeter, features bi-amplification passive crossover and, of course, adopts the new Utopia design codes, ensuring the same high performance and continuity expected with Focal and Utopia M.
