Chord Electronics has incorporated its proprietary Ultima amplifier technology into its smallest amplifier design to date. Anni is the company's first desktop integrated amplifier, capable of delivering 10 watts of amplification to headphones and speakers via 3.5mm, 6.35mm, and banana-type speaker outputs.
In a full system, it's ideal for driving headphones, small desktop speakers, and high-efficiency speakers. Anni takes advantage of the company's patented ULTIMA circuit topology (their reference amplifiers) and is well-positioned to fully leverage the possibilities of today's high-performance gear with an extremely small footprint.
Chord says Anni's amplification can match any headphone load thanks to its recently disclosed dual-feed-forward error-correction circuit design. When it comes to speakers, a two-stage gain control can support a wide range of desktop monitors and high-efficiency speakers. Anni's 10 watts of quality ULTIMA amplification is controlled by a fascia-mounted volume control that also serves as an input selector switch for Anni's two line-level inputs.
The new desktop amp is part of Chord's Qutest line, which also includes the Qutest DAC and Huei phono stage, forming "an unparalleled desktop audio solution," according to Chord. Anni is compatible with the company's QSS (Qutest Stand System) modular equipment rack and has aluminum casework (with a black finish) and colorful, polychromatic control spheres, similar to its Qutest siblings.
Chord Anni is packaged in a high-quality, robust box with a design style similar to the Mojo and Qutest devices.
