Jazz - one of the most important Genres on Qobuz

Since its inception, jazz has been one of the most important genres on Qobuz. One of the things that sets the platform apart from its market competitors is its affinity for this style, which otherwise tends to receive less attention in the mainstream (radio, charts, etc.). Lovers of jazz particularly appreciate the variety of tracks on Qobuz. Hi-Res Audio enables a more detailed and authentic reproduction of the music, which is particularly appreciated by jazz lovers, as they can experience the fine nuances, complex harmonies and dynamic improvisations in even greater detail.

Jazz is the 3rd most streamed genre (after rock and pop) on Qobuz overall and is the 4th most downloaded genre after rock, pop and classical music (9% of download purchases are jazz albums; 14% of streams are jazz repertoire). In the US, jazz is the second most streamed genre on Qobuz.

About ACT

“ACT is considered one of the finest curators of progressive jazz and creative music” (Downbeat). The label, which was founded in 1992 by Siggi Loch and has been managed by Loch and managing director Andreas Brandis since 2015 and is based in Berlin and Munich, has developed into a global player. Today ACT is considered “one of Europe’s most important jazz labels” (NZZ), “integrative, cosmopolitan and widely respected” (The Guardian). The most important concern, then as now: finding and developing young, new artists with one Jazz understanding as an attitude towards openness, interaction and communication.
