Georges Fornay, Deputy CEO of Qobuz, has been named to Billboard’s 2023 International Power Players List. Check him out on the list HERE.

Under Fornay, who was appointed head of the France-based high-quality music streaming and download platform in 2020, Qobuz has led the market in sound quality and commitment to music while driving year-after-year growth, cultivating a discerning fan base (counting everyone from Christian McBride to Neil Young), and expanding its offering to include even more best-in-class exclusive releases, online and in-person events, and premium editorial features like artist interviews and human-curated playlists.

Fornay has also overseen the expansion of Qobuz into Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, the Nordic countries, and as of last week, Canada, more than doubling the number of markets where Qobuz is available worldwide from 12 to 26 in just two years. He also expanded Qobuz’ international growth strategy into Asia, with the acquisition by Xandrie SA (Qobuz’ parent company) of e-onkyo music, a high-resolution music download platform.

With Fornay at the helm, Qobuz’ catalog has grown and diversified, counting more than 100 million tracks in 2023 across all genres. Under Fornay, Qobuz has launched its own Magazine which features global music and hi-fi content, as well as Qobuz Club, an international community forum for music sharing and Hi-Fi discussion.

Fornay said of being named to Billboard’s International Power Player list "I am extremely honored by this distinction. Over the past three years, we have significantly accelerated our international expansion; now music lovers and audiophiles not just in Europe and the United States but in North Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, and now Canada, can enjoy our high-quality music plans. I’m also proud of our service and team’s continual focus on sound quality, editorial richness, and cutting-edge recommendations."
