New full-featured Stellar DAC offers high-end performance and features at an attractive price point
Boulder, Colorado, January 16, 2025 – PS Audio is now shipping its Stellar DAC, a superb-sounding digital-to-analog converter that sets a new standard in performance and value. The Stellar DAC ($2,199) offers a host of high-end features including PS Audio’s exclusive Digital Lens technology, I2S inputs, a Class A output stage, and other refinements, to deliver breathtaking fidelity and musical realism. The Stellar DAC features a built-in volume control, enabling it to be used as a standalone preamp.
The PS Audio Stellar DAC features an industry-leading ESS Sabre 32-bit Hyperstream digital-to-analog converter, which is fed by PS Audio’s Digital Lens technology. The Digital Lens recognizes the sample rate, re-clocks the data, reduces jitter, and applies other processing. Complementing this newly-designed front end, the Stellar DAC employs a hybrid Class A balanced analog output stage and a high-current, oversized analog power supply. To ensure maximum sonic purity, no capacitors are used in the output signal path. The sonic result is a rich, involving musical presentation, with an accurate tonal balance and best-in-class resolution, imaging, presence, and depth.
The Stellar DAC can accept any digital source from PCM to single-and double-rate DSD, with sample rates up to 384 kHz and up to DSD256 native DSD (DSD direct is available via the I2S connection). It includes two I2S inputs, two coaxial inputs and one optical digital input, and a USB connection, enabling the best-possible sound from a computer, CD player, a music streamer such as PS Audio’s AirLens or other digital source. The Stellar DAC offers balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analog outputs.
A choice of selectable digital filters is available that allow listeners to fine-tune the sound to their personal preferences. Available in silver or black, the Stellar DAC is easy to set up and use, thanks to its streamlined front panel controls and menu and its full-function remote control, which can also be used to operate other PS Audio components.
The PS Audio Stellar DAC is currently available at a US manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $2,199.
