MoFi Distribution has been appointed the official USA distributor for Thales and X-quisite, two exceptional brands that exude Swiss precision manufacturing, innovation and luxury. Thales is a successful global entity known for their award winning turntables and tonearms, while X-quisite is the newest brainchild from audio engineer extraordinaire Mica Huber and his world class team who are also the driving force at Thales. Both these brands are created by the HiFiction AG factory in Turbenthal, Switzerland along with EMT products (distributed by MoFi), and various OEM projects.
What is it about Swiss mechanical ingenuity that led these brands to the MoFi Distribution portfolio? With Thales it all began when Micha Huber sought for a way to combine the advantages of a conventional pivoted tonearm and those of a linear tangential pick-up arm. The solution method is based on the well-known elementary school aid to construct a tangent: the Thales' circle. Eventually a three-dimensional mechanical solution emerged that satisfied all the requirements placed on a modern pick-up system. The long-cherished dream of geometrically correct tracking with low friction pivoted bearings became reality.
Thales products are characterized by elegant and noble design with a touch of understatement. They do not follow the tendency to spoil material but underline the inner values. Shape, material and surface are the result of a carefully executed engineering process, to make sure every single part performs its function in the overall concept perfectly. The look of the TTT-Slim II turntable was the first outcome. The Thales philosophy is not only to find theoretical perfect solutions, but also to realize them in the most precise way and achieve continuous improvement in order to set new standards in music reproduction. As a result, there is a constant investment into research and development.
X-quisite phono cartridges were born from a pursuit of perfection in sound, with the goal to improve upon the limitations of traditional MC cartridges. Through extensive research and experimentation, X-quisite engineers discovered that using a stiff ceramic cantilever and eliminating the joint between the cantilever and coil body could produce a pure, high-resolution sound. The result was the patented Monobloc Ceramic Technology. With its unique balance of technical precision and natural sound, X-quisite has become a favorite among audiophiles and music lovers alike.
X-quisite combined four design elements in a unique fashion to achieve this: (i) a strong magnet circuit of a Neodym- Armco combination was used to achieve reasonable output voltage - a necessity for the ironless coil-design (ii) Cantilever and coil body are made of a single high-strength ceramic piece so there is no more joint at the point of the highest dynamic load (iii) The body is milled out of a solid block of aluminum or titanium, depending on the specific model and (iv) The coil material (copper, silver or gold with high purity grade) defines the unique tonal character of each X-quisite model and the winding technology is specifically adapted to the ceramic coil body.
