Genesis at the Southwest Audiofest 2024

Woodinville, WA – Genesis Advanced Technologies is honored to support the inaugural SouthWest Audiofest, March 15 – 17 at the Hilton Anatole, Dallas, TX.

We will feature the all-new Genesis® 7 Foxtrot. The original G7-series started as bookshelf speakers in 2005: the G7c (Convertible) was designed by Arnie Nudell, followed by the G7p (Petite) designed by his design successor in Genesis, Gary Leonard Koh. A floor standing G7f with an active side firing woofer was launched in 2010 and won Best of Innovations for Home Theater Speakers at the 2010 International CES. The original line was retired in 2018.

With world-wide demand for a gateway loudspeaker into the Genesis line, Chief Designer and CEO Gary Koh developed the new G7-series over the past 4 years. Prototypes introduced at the Pacific Audiofest in June 2023 captivated fans and press alike. The smallest of the series – the G7 Minuet – was shown at the Capital Audiofest in November 2023 and garnered “Best in Show” from the HiFi Chicken and Enjoy The Music.com.

At the Southwest Audiofest, we will feature the largest passive speaker in the G7-series – the G7 Foxtrot. Gary completely re-imagined the G7f design with the Foxtrot. To maintain Genesis bass quality without servo-controlled amplified woofers, Gary used two 8-inch woofers working in an isobaric configuration to achieve his goals of tight, articulate and dynamic bass.

“I design for music, and not just to measurements or specifications,” said Gary. “I wanted the great ‘Genesis bass’ but without needing a power-cord for the loudspeaker. I prefer the sound of a sealed speaker, but wanted more. Remembering the impressive Linn Isobarik loudspeakers that a friend had when I was in university in London, I started exploring in that direction.  It doesn’t look as impressive because one woofer is completely hidden, but it sounds better than two forward-firing woofers and can fit into a much smaller cabinet.”

The new G7-series was also designed to be environment- and family-friendly. Eco-friendly Plyboo replaced MDF – it is stiffer, lighter and has better resonant properties. Bamboo is a fast-growing grass and is much more sustainable than the trees used for making MDF. Water-based glues and finishes are used, that along with the low-VOC Plyboo result in a loudspeaker you could use in your baby’s nursery without worrying about off-gassing of volatile organics.

Gary will be in attendance at the Southwest Audiofest with Bob Clarke of Profundo Audio and Brian Tucker of Pro Audio. The G7 Foxtrot will be driven by the brand-new Limited Edition Helikon electronics from Heed Audio courtesy of Bob. Brian will be showing the Analog Audio Design TP-1000 reel-to-reel tape player. The VPI Avenger Direct will feature the Hyper Sonic X4 cartridge. Gary will be bringing master tapes, reference lacquers and test pressings to play, along with his usual stash of demo cuts.

The Genesis 7 Foxtrot will retail for $13,800 without taxes. More information will be available at https://www.genesisloudspeakers.com/ .

Tickets for the festival may be purchased online at https://www.southwestaudiofest.com/ or at the door.
