High-End Munich – May 9, 2019 – Focal, the French expert in High-Fidelity manufacturing, is introducing new wooden finishes to the Sopra N°2, Sopra N°3, Scala Utopia Evo and Maestro Utopia Evo loudspeakers, at High-End Munich. The selection of sophisticated finishes complements the sound performance of these Made-in-France, high-end solutions. Focal’s audio innovation goes beyond technology and sound to influence product design and aesthetics.
THE POWER OF STYLE
Focal’s teams of engineers, designers and cabinet-makers work side-by-side to create the very best acoustic loudspeakers, both in terms of sound reproduction as well as style. The brand creates ‘way of life’ objects that cater to every desire when it comes to the home environment. This year Focal has chosen an intrinsically noble material with a warm, timeless and elegant countenance: wood.
OAK FOR SOPRA
Focal has selected oak for the side panels of Sopra N°2 and Sopra N°3 Hi-Fi loudspeakers: Light Oak and Dark Oak finishes. A naturally light wood, the oak truly enhances these floor-standing loudspeakers. The Light Oak finish perfectly matches the light-colored front panel, the Dark Oak finish and an intense-colored front panel go very well together, and a High Gloss varnish brings a radiant shine.
THE BEAUTY OF NOYER FOR UTOPIA
For the Scala Utopia Evo and Maestro Utopia Evo loudspeakers from the prestigious Utopia III Evo range, Focal acquired an exceptional batch of French Noyer that heralds from a one-hundred-year-old tree from the Ain region. This tawny yellow wood, veined with brown, has stunning nuances of color. With its satin look, plentiful knots and a fine, irregular grain - a variety that is extremely decorative - Scala and Maestro present new, exceptional Noyer Naturel and Noyer Foncé finishes. Harmoniously combined with a lighter-intense-colored body, these finishes are also sublimed by a High Gloss varnish.
THE STERLING WORK OF FOCAL’S CABINET-MAKERS
Thanks to the unique skills of Focal’s cabinet-makers in the FEB (Focal Ébénisterie Bourgogne) workshop, each piece of wood is meticulously worked and treated with the utmost respect. These skilled men and women, highly experienced in working with the specificities of these finishes, are creating prestige objects and also giving the material a fantastic “second life.” Every piece is unique and handmade, a marker of quality cherished by Focal, and one that is also made clear by the limited quantities of the edition made with the unique piece of French Noyer.
The new line of wood-finished speakers will be available next month.
