European Audio Team Introduces New Turntable, the C-Dur

EAT’s latest creation has reached North America and is shipping now — a compact, accessibly priced entry that shares its DNA with the brand’s luxe reference tables
Nesconset, NY European Audio Team, the Austrian manufacturer acclaimed for producing elegantly styled turntables and electronics whose performance competes with the industry’s finest phono products, has introduced a new entry to its core turntable line.

The new C-Dur offers the luxury appeal of the EAT's premium reference tables, such as the Fortissimo, in a more compact footprint and accessible price category. C-Dur comes in a pair of premium finishes never before offered in the EAT line: a smooth, matte Satin Black and a furniture-grade High Gloss Plum wood finish.

High Mass, Compact Package

European Audio Team skillfully employs mass in the table's design to ensure that C-Dur's sonic prowess equals its aesthetic beauty. Enlightened engineering and meticulous build quality empower this high-mass (34.4lb) table to deliver the full-bodied, dynamic sound that is EAT's hallmark. The foundation of the C-Dur is its massive 50mm MDF plinth. The rotating mass of the platter and sub-platter add to a substantial 13.45lb. Since the moment of inertia is directly proportional to the square of the radius, the C-Dur's platter is an oversized 13.5 inches. This design choice maximizes inertia while minimizing bearing load and noise. The platter's Teflon thrust plate rests on a 3.9lb inverted bearing assembly with stainless steel spindle and ceramic ball. The combination with EAT's proven low-noise, fully decoupled motor, and onboard AC generator gives the C-Dur remarkable speed stability and vanishingly low levels of rumble.

Mechanical & Electrical Isolation

The turntable is effectively decoupled from its surface by three damped, height-adjustable aluminum feet that guarantee the perfect stance and massively reduce the risk of acoustic feedback. A high-precision onboard electronic speed control is installed in the chassis, featuring polished aluminum buttons with integrated status LEDs. For good measure, an outboard 15V power supply is provided for the lowest possible noise floor.

A Proven Tonearm Design

C-Dur shares the 10" C-Note tonearm with the EAT's highly regarded C-Sharp. A unique feature of all C-Note arms is the inclusion of a damper assembly in the bearing housing. Using a special silicon-based lubricant, this device reduces tonearm/cartridge resonances by more than 50%. C-Note arms combine a stiff low-mass carbon fiber tube with an aluminum headshell to provide the rigidity and low resonance necessary for the highest fidelity.

Luxury Styling at Accessible Pricing

Starting at $3,799, the Satin Black variant is well positioned as the next logical step up from the bestselling C-Major. The Plum wood version, starting at $4,499, delivers a luxury wood-finished product at an industry-leading price point and serves as a compact alternative to the C-Sharp. The table is available without a cartridge or in a bundle with EAT's Jo No. 5 moving coil cartridge.
