“We are pleased to be offering KEF at Basil Audio. Their professional approach to customer needs and expert analysis when combining KEF speakers with top electronics is a superb match” said Kerry Finnegan, Regional Head of KEF America. Mr Finnegan went on to say “If our customers are looking to get the best results from their KEF selection they now need to look no further. As well as a warm welcome at Basil Audio’s Los Gatos Showroom to hear KEF today they can expect their skillset to deliver each and every time making KEF and Basil Audio the right choice for the most complete sound whatever the environment.”
For KEF’s founder Raymond Cooke, the approach to producing better loudspeakers was to apply a high level of rigorous engineering in all the key design areas. The initial priority was to develop new drive units with improved performance, and for these he used the latest in synthetic materials such as Melinex, Polystyrene, Bextrene, and Neoprene. Next in importance was the system design – how to combine these drivers with their enclosures and crossover networks in order to create loudspeakers that would push the performance envelope further than had ever been achieved before.
For its part Basil believes that demonstrating such well thought out engineered creations requires meticulous attention to overall system setup, including speaker positioning, electrical connections, mechanical stability, and removing un-driven speakers from the listening room, providing a relaxed and natural environment when auditioning.

About KEF
The company was founded in 1961 by Raymond Cooke OBE (1925–1995) and was initially headquartered in a Nissen Hut on the premises of Kent Engineering & Foundry (from where the name KEF is derived) – a metal-working company on the banks of the River Medway, near Maidstone in Kent. KEF’s ethos has always been based on the continuing quest to find new and better ways of reproducing sound. Since the company’s establishment, KEF has maintained a flair for unusual and controversial speaker engineering, design and material use. KEF has always driven innovation in sound with examples including its iconic ‘egg,’ Muon, and Blade speakers. KEF is a member of Gold Peak Group and its products are available in more than 60 countries. In 2011, KEF celebrated its 50th anniversary and now the company continues its commitment to building on its strong heritage.
