AMG introduces new Giro MK II Wood turntable

German turntable makers Analog Manufaktur Germany (AMG) will be introducing a new turntable at AXPONA 2024, the Giro MK II Wood. This new model will feature a cherry wood sub-chassis, bringing a fresh look and improved sound to the popular turntable.

The wood layer is a collaboration with Die Möbelmacher, a local carpenter specializing in sustainable organic woods from the Franconia region of southern Germany where the AMG factory is located. The Giro MK II Wood is 20% more massive than the non-wood version, and has improved energy damping characteristics due to the additional material layer. The elegant look of the wood sub-chassis ties the Giro's minimalist style to that of it's older, more expensive sibling, the AMG Viella.

The Giro MK II Wood is planned to retail for $10,500 and to begin shipping in May 2024. Customers have the option to add either of AMG’s two 9” tonearm models at a package pricing, and there will be a limited time pre-order offer that will include select Benz Micro cartridges at no charge.

Sierra Sound will be demonstrating the Giro MK II Wood in room 530 at AXPONA for its US debut. The turntable will be exhibited at Munich Hi End in May as well.
