The U18s Combines Proprietary Drivers, LID Technology, and a New Electronic Crossover Network to Deliver a Uniquely Exceptional Listening Experience
VANCOUVER, Wash., May 19, 2021 - 64 Audio, the leader in custom and universal fit in-ear monitors, is proud to announce its new U18s, audiophile-grade, universal fit 18-driver in-ear monitor is now shipping with an MSRP of $2,999.00.
“When we first introduced the U18s a little while back, the excitement that we received from the industry was incredible,” said Vitaliy Belonozhko, 64 Audio founder and CEO. “In 2016, 64 Audio revolutionized the IEM industry with its world class reference level U18t, the industry’s first 18-driver earphone. Now, with the U18s, 64 Audio has taken the heritage of the 18-driver platform and further pushed the envelope of innovation in sound and design. The U18s combines proprietary drivers, LID technology, and a new electronic crossover network to deliver a uniquely exceptional listening experience.”
The U18s includes 18 precision-balanced armature drivers per earpiece, and is handcrafted in the USA from aerospace-grade aluminum billet. CNC milled, sand blasted, fly cut, and twice anodized…the result is a striking fractal design that is inspired by nature itself.
Additional U18s specifications include:
- Driver configuration: 1 tia high, 1 high-mid, 8 mid, 8 low
- Frequency response: 10Hz – 20kHz
- Sensitivity: 106db dB/mW @ 1mW (84mV)
- Impedance: 8Ω Nominal
- Crossover: Integrated 4-way passive
- Isolation: -10db w/ mX module; -15dB w/ m15 module; -20dB w/ m20 module
“Including a host of our exclusive technologies such as tiaTM and apex® that challenge traditional in-ear monitor designs, our U18s gives you the absolute best listening experience available today,” Belonozhko concluded.
64 Audio’s patented Air Pressure Exchange (apex) is a pneumatically interactive vent that releases air pressure in a sealed ear canal. This venting alleviates listener fatigue and opens the soundstage. All of 64 Audio’s current IEMs feature apex technology and comes in three variations (mX, m15, and m20) depending on the model purchased. Unlike competitor venting solutions, apex preserves the bass frequencies and produces a more open soundstage, which helps the listener distinguish individual instruments. The apex module is also engineered with features to prevent vent-clogging and wind noise. Its compact and durable construction is virtually maintenance-free, designed for the most demanding users.
tiaTM is a technology exclusive to 64 Audio that works by minimizing sound-altering tubes and dampers. Sound produced by the tia system is able to disperse freely and effortlessly, yielding an incredibly smooth and musical frequency response. Two major elements of the tia system include the tia high driver and the tia single bore design.
LID™ is a technology exclusive to 64 Audio that ensures a consistent frequency response regardless of the source, making it perfect for musicians plugging into a variety of equipment.
Included with the U18s universal IEM is a leather protective case; TrueFidelity eartips (S,M,L); silicone eartips (S,M,L); SpinFit eartips(S,M,L); eartip holder; 48-inch 8-braid silver premium cable; branded m20 apex modules; branded m15 apex modules; branded mX apex modules; round 64 Audio sticker.
