From an Editor's Notebook:  Gold Note Celebrates its 10th Anniversary

10-02-2022 | By David W. Robinson | Issue 123

I have been publishing periodic updates from Gold Note, an Italian high-end company whose products have really caught my eye and ear. As I've been commenting on the Gold Note PH-1000 reference Phono Stage and their PSU-1250 reference Power Supply in tandem with Dohmann Audio, Phasemation, and Schröder…Part the First of which can be read HERE…Gold Note has been progressing with their plans to get me various current and new designs. This would include the very promising looking major update to their Mediterraneo Turntable, the Mediterraneo X, with the Tuscany MC reference cartridge. I expect them to arrive here over the next 3-6 months, Lord willing.

On to other another thing:  Just recently, Gold Note sent along two new YouTube video teasers produced in July during their 10th anniversary celebration. As usual, their videos aren't quite like anything else that I've seen in high-end audio. There is a notable fusion of technology and art in their work, with a unique presentation within very short time periods.

You can see them HERE and HERE. Note that these videos roll along into other Gold Note YouTubers; you can stop them at any point after the initial short videos, if you like.

Gold Note commented upon their 10th anniversary and these videos:

"The event took place in our renovated headquarters with our business partners from all over the World, along with some journalists. It was a great chance to celebrate our 10th Anniversary and spent a fantastic evening together. We also presented a preview of Mediterraneo X – a simple prototype that will be released, we hope, by the end of the year.

As you can see from the video, there was an interactive audio-video installation with the 10th Anniversary creativity and our IS-1000 Integrated Amplifier connected. The videos and soundtracks were activated by passing the hand of two people simultaneously in front of the sensor."

As I've said before, I'll continue to keep you posted with my progress with the Gold Note line. Based on what I've heard so far, I suspect that I'm going to be delighted.

We'll see, eh?
