Presenting the new PH 9.0 Tube Phono Stage, with on-the-fly loading and gain adjustment. Following in the footsteps of the Reference PH 150, the PH 9.0 offers much of the same performance and flexibility of the PH 150 at a lower price and smaller form factor.
September 18, 2018 – ModWright Instruments, Inc., manufacturer of the award winning KWA 150SE amplifier, PH 150 Reference Tube phono stage and KWI 200 SS integrated amplifer, is introducing their new PH 9.0 tube phono stage at 2018 RMAF. The PH 9.0 takes the reference performance of the PH 150 tube phono stage to a level of performance that belies its affordable price.
Both the PH 9.0 and PH 150 are ideal for reference systems or secondary audiophile systems. Both were optimized by designer/owner Dan Wright to provide the most natural and musical presentation of analog playback. Extensive testing with both MM and MC cartridges and a series of reference turntables and tone arms proved the performance of this new design.
The PH 9.0 retains the flexible MC loading and gain adjustment of the PH 150 and similar circuitry, but in a smaller enclosure. This allows for great flexibility and adjustment to suit any system. The external power supply and 6ft umbilical allow for ease of setup and placement.
The PH 9.0 uses the same (2) 6C45 and (2) 6922 tube complement and embodies the same tonality, soundstage and musical presentation of the reference line. Max MC and MM gain of 64dB and 52dB respectively, as well as 0dB, -6dB and -12dB gain adjustment, accommodate a broad range of MM and MC cartridges.
The back panel features one set each, MM and MC RCA inputs and one set of RCA main outs as well as optional (additional cost) fully balanced, transformer coupled XLR main outs. Turntables with two tone arms are easily accommodated, and with an outboard step-up transformer for the MM input, two MC cartridges may also be used.
Dimensions: 10”L x 10”W x 4”H (phono); 9”L x 7”W x 3”H (power supply).
The new ModWright PH 9.0 tube phono stage will be on active display at 2018 RMAF, room 9010, in the towers at Marriott Tech Center.
