An Evening With(out) David Bowie - AXPONA 2018

Cleveland music expert Thomas Mulready has been invited to present his multimedia presentation "An Evening With(out) David Bowie" at the AXPONA (Audio Expo North America) conference in the Chicago area, which takes place April 13 – 15.

The Bowie show will be a featured event, as it will take place on the opening evening at 8 p.m. at the Renaissance Schaumburg, 1551 Thoreau Drive North, Schaumburg, IL 60173.

"An Evening With(out) David Bowie" celebrates the iconic artist’s life and legacy with an entertaining, educational and enlightening multi-media review. Assiduously researched and painstakingly organized, the offers a multitude of factoids and little- known background, informed by a framework of themes the artist mined at every stage of his career, right up to his untimely passing and beyond. The show regularly attracts sold out audiences.

Acclaimed Bowiephile and arts impresario/advocate Mulready produced the show, and will serve as host. He been performing and developing the productions for more than five years. Since Bowie’s untimely passing in 2016, recently released box sets, books and rare behind-the-scenes footage have added significantly to the artist’s legacy and history, and these elements have been incorporated into the new presentations, diving deep into all aspects and eras of his life and passing.

To end the evening, Cleveland glam punk rockers Vanity Crash will take things higher with some Bowie favorites and period classics (Velvet Underground, Ronettes, The Zombies, Lady Gaga), along with original selections from their recent CD Phantasmagoria.

"I've attended AXPONA for the past six years, and I'm excited to bring our show to Chicago’s Renaissance Schaumberg this year," Mulready said. "David Bowie holds a special significance to audiophiles as he produced records that are thrilling, intelligent and fun to listen to. We'll present rare video, high-end audio, needle drops, trivia contests, Q&A, even a coloring contest, and then our band Vanity Crash will raise the roof a few inches. High-end audio is about more than just equipment, it's about passion for music and the musicians who create it."
