Positive or negative phase second - did you know a differential pair can be made to give either pos or neg 2nd when 'imbalanced'? Even the input of my Jean Hiraga's LeMonstre 8W is a differential of 2SK170/2SJ74 and I got it nice sounding when not in balance due to slight mismatched input parts; contrary, this trick I could not get working on my very well matched-parts Pass F5 - it sounds more neutral to me.

Thank you, Nelson. Very interesting indeed. I may have to give this a try. (I wish I was coming to BAF, but alas, poor Gary will not be in attendance. Perhaps someday.) As if you care, my DIY Fugly F4 is still operating wonderfully, even as it is ugly as audio-sin. And somebody, fill that man's glass!
