Did you know that one of the finest piano recordings ever made, Nojima Plays Liszt, Reference Recordings RR-25, has been reissued and re-mastered direct from the analog tape to HDCD? It's so much better and more authoritative than the old 1987 CD that I recommend you take the old one and toss it. It's the new Reference Recording Nojima that is now playing as I write this Dynamic Design review of their hot, brand new, New Generation Lotus entry level audiophile cables. No more white or blue models, there's only one Lotus cable now and it's absolutely astonishing!

With fifty hours on the Cable Cooker followed by 50 hours play time, the New Gen Lotus is the highest fidelity, most detailed, most realistic, most linear, and most harmonious interconnect in its class. After extensive listening in both of my reference systems, the Lotus drills down into the music like cables costing twice the cash. At $400 per meter, it owns its price category big time. A little harder to find than the big mass brands, Dynamic Design is well worth the search. Or, just go on their website to shop and forget the hassle at $3.25 per gallon these days.

The New Gen Lotus is flexible and easy to twist plus is terminated quite nicely in good looking hardware. Still blue in color, that's about all that's reminiscent of its earlier design. It‘s all very new technology and it sounds like it. I hate to use the word breakthrough, but maybe it is. They sound like $1500 cables sounded just five years ago. This is serious trickle down good news for audiophiles on a budget!

The High Band

There's not much missing here from the top priced wires. No kidding! Very airy, delicate and sparkly, the highs are very, very, good. Sure, there's some textural sophistication and layering that's absent, but nevertheless, the overall detail retrieval here is excellent and heart stopping. You'll hear delicate tiny background definition you might have missed before with some other cables. The New Lotus's clear up the haze and veiling, and yield real musical harmonics galore. Dynamic Designs' designs have been very solid in the past …they just got amazing.

The Mid Band

Black backgrounds highlight the excellent and most dynamic definition I've heard under $1000 per meter. Again, just somewhat texturally shy of the best at double the price, you might not miss a thing. What the New Gen Lotus gives you in spades is verisimilitude and intense musical drama that will consume and involve your attention. It opens a window in the mids that is crystal clear and inviting. No subtle improvement …you will be startled by this wide open vision of the performance. This is new to my ears; a new direction in cable making and reproduction. I can't tell you the science, but I'm not sure it matters. It's Row C or D sound and it's thrilling to hear! If your speakers are truly flat or rolled off a bit, you just have to hear these. They are DNA+TNT for the ears.

The Bass

The blackness and quietude extend way down to the lowest octaves giving the bass a textural boost. The New Gen Lotus just refuses to smear with lovely integration of the bass to the mids. It's really musical down there with very, very good heft. Yields some dynamic range and nuance to more expensive designs, but again, it produces more than you'd ever expect from this priced cable. Very musical and neutral bass performance, the Lotus is most right sounding and a winner in the bass category.

Imaging

This is a WOW! The lack of smear, overhang, or grain coupled with a distinct lack of anything phasy or blurry enhances imaging like the expensive stuff. You will be able to locate everything and then draw a circle around it, regardless of the number of instruments that are playing. This is a major breakthrough for cable at $400 per meter. Sounds to me like they have a built in Bybee Filter …but they don't.

Plus, it's plug and play. No weird connectors or batteries or fragile elements here …it's all very straight forward and user friendly. By the way, vocals are really right sounding. They have width and depth. Their performance with vocals reminds me of a certain cable I reviewed recently for $1500 per meter. The New Lotus certainly is a super, high-value interconnect!

Hey, if this stuff is this good, Dynamic Design's newest Nebula interconnects must be outrageous. I'll say this. If you have only $400 per meter to spend, this is your FIRST stop folks!

Just released from Dynamic Design is their New Generation Lotus Interconnect, their entry level sonic beauty! Lacking only ultimate definition and textural layering, the New Gen Lotus is really new and special. In my experience, they offer groundbreaking musicality, imaging, definition, and evenness of tonality that no other cable has ever provided in this price category. Quiet as a mouse, they remove veils and graininess like the expensive brands. They provide wonderful sonic integration from top to bottom. The Dynamic Design New Generation Lotus Interconnect is a true blue bargain and most highly recommended. Robert H. Levi
