CES 2005 - Part 2, page 4
by Dave and Carol Clark

Credo S100 speakers shown with Thor TPA 60 amplifiers and Black Diamond Racing products in the Thor/BDR/Credo room.

Electocompaniet EMC1 with the Black Diamond Racing clamp in the Thor/BDR/Credo room. Very cool to see Thor back and in the thick of things. Great gear and great music came from this room. Nice seeing DJ too! There was simply way too much BDR product to shoot though, definitely a company on the move as far as making whatever you need to do whatever you want with your audio system.

The Gryphon room featured the Antileon Signature M pure class A mono amplifiers ($50,000pr), Sonata/Allegro dual mono preamplifier ($15,000), Mikado CD player ($12,400), Poseidon Reference speakers ($130,000 pr), as well as Gryphon cabling. Big and effortless. Clean and with a wow factor that made one say WOW! Nice people too, though I am not sure who was taller, Flemming or the speakers!

The Poseidon Speakers up close.

Steve Norber of Edge, along with his prototype speakers. The Edge clan are some of the nicest people to hang with... good people making really good products, that make really good music.

Edge showed the G2 preamplifier ($4350), the new G CD player ($4350), and the G8+ amp ($9950).

A closer look at the G3 integrated—review in the works!

Edge G2 preamplifier, G CD player, and G8+ amplifiers. Never sounding edgy, Edge is on the cutting edge of looks and design!

Elite Audio/Video Distribution is a new venture from Michael Hobson of Classic Records/themusic.com featuring ESS AMT model 500 speakers, Plinus, Kuzma, and Der Aragon and Der Micro record cleaning machines from Blue Danube. Nice stuff, but no one approached us to give us the scoop, actually they pretty much ignored us... odd as we were there to help promote this new venture. Gee.. oh well we kind of expected this...

Plinius SA201 integrated in the Elite room. Nice but no music.

Kuzma the man. Now he was nice.

Kuzma XL turntable with Airline arm and Reference 3 cartridge.

Albert Von Schweikert with the Von Schweikert VR4 SR speakers and VAC electronics. A good guy making really good speakers! Always impressive stuff.

In the Von Schweikert room they used the VAC Phi Beta integrated.

Red Rock Audio featured their Renaissance amp, and Prototype passive control unit along with Precision Acoustic Labs Reality speakers, Teres 360 turntable, Hagerman Trumpet phono stage, Musical Fidelity CD/SACD player, BPT power conditioner, and Red Rock Audio cables. Crowded and busy.

The Red Rock Audio Renaissance Amplifier.

VRS Audio systems showed the Duevel Jupiter speakers ($26,000 pr), VRS Audio Revelation, and VAC Phi Kappa. I liked this room a lot. Which is spelled "a lot" and not "alot."

Close up of the Jupiter by Duevel. Big room filling sound that was very natural and musical to say the least.

Pluto Audio 12A Special turntable.

Dr. Karl Schuermann of Audio Machina with the Ultimate Monitor speakers. Nice guy and great products. See our interview and upcoming reviews of the speakers.

Michael Wolf showed his Wolf carbon cables with Audio Machina.
