interesting Bob. Kudos on this new one. I heard from Michael Cuscuna that Philips was the original label but didn't have a counterpart in the USA, so Columbia licensed the Philips cuts and on the new Impex lp they've been resequenced. Did Impex source the master tape from Universal / Polygram / Philips or from Sony? I'm writing a feature on it and would like to know. please email me [email protected]----. Also the Philips cover art had him with what appears to be an airbrushed cigarette in his mouth. Best, Tom

Philips was the Euro outlet/label for many Columbia artists of the time therefore the semi-simultaneous release in US, France and the Netherlands.
The original Philips is the same as the Columbia.
If you are talking recent reissues...I don't know.

How did Columbia license those to Polygram / Philips. It seems a little unusual. Any 411 please?
