David Finkel, the original cellist, left the group in mid 2013 and was replaced by Paul Watkins. The other three musicians have been with quartet continually.

The Art of the Fugue was recorded with David Finkel. The group picture above is with Mr. Watkins (at right).

Some listeners who have heard the current quartet think its sound is richer or more animated. We'll never get to compare recordings of the two groups playing this piece ( the market for it is so small that it will never be re-recorded), but it would be interesting to hear the current group play at least part of it live.

And we corrected that mistake shortly after John Marks spotted it.
