With a limited budget should I get a Fiio X7ii + UERR or Fiio X5iii + UE18 pro. Or rather, how would they sound different?

Appreciate the comments Fielding. Capitol Studios have had more of a hands-on approach into tuning the UERR into what they believe to be the perfect tool for mixing and mastering. They have used the proprietary True Tone Drivers to extend the frequency range to 18 kHz.

I do not have access to measuring equipment at the moment but I have subjectively felt that the UERM represents a more raw version of the UERR in that it can appear bright at times whereas the UERR is more smooth. Both have very similar levels of resolvement but I believe the UERM is slightly better in the low-end. Staging is something which I feel that raw data does not show and is thus a perceptively subjective thing; the UERR is more intimate compared to the slightly mid laidback UERM in those regards.

And if the "UERR does not resolve as much" why would it be "a perfect tool for mixing and mastering?" If the UERM resolves better, how does this correlate to its "rawer tuning?" If the desired objective is genuine reference level rather than the marketing appeal which the review seems to reflect, interested consumers would appreciate more technical aspects. The current very small quantity of in-ear measurement data relegates most of these reviews into purely subjective exercises which tend to rephrase and summarize manufacturer-provided information.
