I find it a bit ridiculous and petty for anyone who can afford $30,000.+ for just two components of an audio system to pretend the extra electricity use is of any great concern. It's like buying an exotic car and complaining that you have to pay more for 93 octane gasoline.

In reply to BillK. Very true, BillK. In our ever more power-conscious world, the load of Pure Class A or high A/B is a factor for an audiophile to take into consideration. I used to run components 24x7xwhen I was not on vacation, but over the past year or so have been turning off big-draw components overnight. All of us will have to think about our usage and budgets, and act wisely.

Any review of Pass Labs amps should really include their power draw. The admitted downside of highly biased class AB or pure class A amps is their heat production/power draw, and 550w is a lot for anyone who hasn't been running tube amps. Certainly if you're the type of person who runs their system 24x7 for music in your home, you're going to see a nice spike in your electric bill, not to mention in air conditioner run time in the summer. :-) That's not a criticism of Pass per se, but just another factor to be taken into account.

I would like to add that pass labs amps are not the most dynamic and fastest amps in the world.
But undoubtedly one of the most musical ones.

Robert,How do you attach the REL subs to the Pass mono blocks? Do you put red & yellow together onto +ve output tap & the black lead to ground on back of PASS

Thanks for a great review. The genius of Nelson Pass is also at the vanguard of low power amplification with his revolutionary First Watt designs. I hope you review the new Micromega M-One integrated (maybe we need a new word because they not only include DAC and phono modules, but even DSP).
