In any case, the review was impressively laid out, touching upon the various considerations required for ultimate (and synergistic) performance.
Indeed, premium (solid-state) amplifier offerings (both current and past) should elevate the listening experience even further.
You choice of speaker cable is interesting. One of the finest, yet rarely discussed loudspeaker cables available would have to be the newest "6000"-series Kimber SELECT.
All three skews of the SELECT are identical --other than metallurgy: KS-6063 (all copper), KS-6065 (silver/copper) and finally KS-6068 (all-silver). Although the 65/68 are both eye and wallet-watering priced, perhaps the far more affordable 6063's may surprise you. In fact, anecdotally, the KS-6063 was suggested to be superior to the last gen.(and still available) KS-3035 (3033/38 series). That would be impressive enough. Yet with your equipment (and loudspeaker!), the KS-6065 may thrill you just enough to take the plunge --particularly if fortunate enough to have short runs.
The fact the brilliant SELECT series gets so little industry attention must have more to do with advertising commitments (some Rag's no doubt encourage) than the actual superiority of the product itself. That this lack of recognition has existed for more than 15-years suggest it's not my imagination of the industry's lackluster support. The "golden lining" however resides in the fact that every and all who experience these superb products are often left slack-jawed --and wanting.
Be forewarned. Although I'm sure you know the perils of such auditioning: your S-5's an example. lol.
(Caveat; If (6000-series) anything like the 3000-series, specifically the silver models, ensure that the cables are exposed to an inordinate amount of 'break-in' time. It was so frustrating for me (a dealer at the time) that we had to invest in a cable 'burner". Other wise, a minimum of 500-1,000 hours would be required. I know, try explaining that to 'buy new" customers. But I assure you, like fine wine, it's worth the wait).
All in all, a wonderfully detailed, passionate and insightful review. Now if only all (or most "reviews") were similarly enlightening, there would be am far more satisfied readers and listeners.

(P.S. I just noticed (via review photo's) the simple (i.e. "cruddy" ) speaker/floor interface.
Loudspeaker (any loudspeaker) requires a wider, wider/deeper (far more stable) "footing" than that shown. In fact, I believe there is a MK-II version of the S-5? I'm most certain I've seen a far superior base on the MK-II (or perhaps another Magico?). If so, an unfortunate oversight by an otherwise impressively reviewed loudspeaker.
