Thanks for the kind words, Stephen. And you are right, the SOGM reissues aren't as good as the EMI originals, not by a mile. But, the sets are great fun, and as I stated in my review, select cuts really do sound good.

The Story of Great Music series of which I purchased 9 mint sets for $9 total about 3 decades ago, left me wondering. I sampled four or five discs and found them to have compressed, harmonically thin sound, nothing like the EMI originals or the recent CD incarnations. I will listen to the Shostakovich and Walton to see if I missed on some of the discs. I prefer the Readers Digest RCA box sets which often have excellent sound and performances.
