this was a fantastic article, tom! i learned quite a bit, and i am very much in the "relatively mid-range" financial zone that you live in. I currently am rockin' a rega p6 and a pair of spendors for speakers, but i am looking into steppin' up my game and swapping out my very basic, entry-level mygroov preamp for a phenomena II+ and i am looking for a cartridge upgrade and it sounds like the EL might just be the way to go--thoughts?

I'm so very sorry for the delay; I usually get a ping-back when there's a response to a review, and for some reason this time, either I didn't get one or I simply overlooked it. My apologies! I must also be honest, I don't really have much in terms of chamber music on LP (tons of digital files!), but I do listen to a significant amount of acoustic music via LPs, and the Hana sounds pretty magnificent. It really seems to get to the heart of the music in ways that allow me to pretty much totally ignore any pressing issues with a particular record. And I buy a lot of used LPs that I manually clean by hand with Disc Doctor fluid; generally after several plays, the Hana renders playback that often sounds like a brand new record! I'm still totally in love with this cartridge!!

Nice review. Will be getting an EL this fall. Been using a Virtuoso Wood MM/Simaudio 310/Ovation TT. Time to try an MC (with a Pro-Ject RS phonobox), and looks like EL is the ticket. How did you find the EL with chamber music (string quartets, etc)?
