In reply to aslpc. There is very little to add to this review and I concur on all points. Purchased this machine mid-year 2016 and there is little to compare (I'd dare say). Worth every penny and worth going into hock over. No lie.

Although out of my price range and comfort level this is one I would be very interested in getting in front of. I bought a used X03SE from a gentleman moving up to the K01 some years ago and was interested more in build quality/reliability as a motivating factor over sound quality. (Sony SCD 777-that I enjoyed greatly but could never keep running). I read and heard lots of the chatter about the analytic quality and as I am a vinyl/tube/SET fan kind of guy was worried that it would be sterile which is the last thing digital would need. The X03 was far far beyond that label. Rich, very involving and it has been an extremely satisfying purchase. My friend had a 777 as well and I brought the Esoteric over so he could compare and he ended up with a K03 (bought used from a gentleman moving from the K03 to the K01). Very limited data but the guy I bought mine from was laughing as he said he paid more for the K01 than his Honda that he drove. My friend said the guy he bought from was high income and decided the extra was worth it from the k03 to 1. From this I hazard that the K01X must be one hell of a deck. I still love my X03 but man would love to hear the K01X.
