Your hearing of pure tones might max out at 13500, but that doesn't necessary mean you can't hear frequency *components* of music above 13500, because our hearing is not a linear system. In other words, suppose you can't hear something by itself, it doesn't necessarily follow that when you add it to something else that you do hear that something else sounds the same afterwards.
