When such terms are used, it indicates (to me) that something other than the music has drawn attention to itself. A terrible impression.
In contrast, "remarkably fluid", musical and defined --while offering up realistic timbres and tonal cues/hues in a layered and harmoniuos fashion, would seem to be the far more nuanced player. It really is (or shoud be) about finesse. Nothing but the music for the listener to evaluate.
